As Senior Director of Medical Operations, Subash Muniswamaiah, MD, is a leader in the IQVIA Biotech Medical Services department with more than 16 years of diverse industry experience. His background makes him exquisitely well-suited to provide oversight and steady guidance to the myriad functions that are integral to the smooth functioning of the department.

Whether guiding an assessment of current practices that leads to process improvements, onboarding, training, or mentoring, Subash is integral to the infrastructure and support of the team. He is key to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, policies, and procedures — ensuring the department functions with heightened efficiency to optimize quality delivery for customers.

His breadth of experience in clinical research includes medical writing and monitoring, SAS programming, as well as regulatory and safety aspects of clinical research. He has supported numerous clinical trial programs in varying therapeutic indications in internal medicine, oncology, rare disease, and infectious disease. This array of experience makes Subash particularly well-equipped to collaborate with IQVIA Biotech teams, and across IQVIA, to troubleshoot and support customer challenges. He helps sponsors meet their clinical development needs through early engagement, developing strategies and mapping out drug development pathways. This may include guidance in the development of study endpoints, efficacy variables, patient populations, risk identification and mitigation strategies in clinical trials. Given his extensive medical writing background, Subash has direct involvement in the development and review of vital documents such as patient information leaflets, clinical study reports, investigator brochures, and other customized reports for sponsors.

From his start in the medical field as a cardiology resident for the M S Ramaiah Hospital in Karnataka, India, Subash was a ghostwriter for senior physicians, working to gather their collective thoughts and data insights and formulate them into cohesive pieces for publishing opportunities. It was from this initial exposure to medical writing that he began to take interest in clinical research. Diving into the structured processes and methodologies behind data collection and analysis and extracting the thoughtful meaning behind the numbers illustrating how the science affects patients in need was a turning point for Subash, routing his career to clinical research.

Through his work at other clinical research organizations, health technology organizations, and IQVIA Biotech, Subash remains inspired to use his medical expertise to advance clinical research that can positively impact millions of patients in need.

Though a self-proclaimed introvert when starting his medical career, Subash flourishes in the team environment at IQVIA Biotech. His calm and reassuring demeanor with sparks of good humor are universally appreciated by his colleagues. He enjoys the collective efforts to enhance clinical development by marrying individual expertise with collective solutions, with the goal of making a genuine difference for patients across the globe.

At IQVIA Biotech, Subash is an active member of the Early Clinical Development Centre of Excellence and Medical Safety Review Group that ensures patient safety and ethical clinical trial conduct. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. He is also a certified SAS Programmer with a Post Graduate diploma in Applied Statistics and Clinical Research.
