Olja Tanjga, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who combines more than 20 years of clinical practice and research experience with a passion for neurology research. A native of Serbia, Dr. Tanjga completed her undergraduate studies and medical degree at the Faculty of Medical University of Belgrade and her internship and residency in neurology at Military Medical Academy.  It was there, as a clinician caring for patients with neurologic diseases, that Dr. Tanjga became focused on trying to make a difference in the lives of patients with these debilitating conditions. Ultimately, she chose research as her route to impact the lives of these patients.

In her role as Senior Medical Director at IQVIA Biotech, Dr. Tanjga brings her depth of medical and scientific insights and therapeutic experience to neurology clinical research programs. Using her expertise in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, pain disorders and other serious neurological conditions, Dr. Tanjga offers guidance to IQVIA Biotech sponsors and study teams in a rapidly innovative and changing therapeutic landscape. Through firsthand experience in the evolving space, she advises sponsors on what to expect in carrying out neurology trials and how to successfully reach trial endpoints with efficient trial design and risk mitigation. For example, given her breadth of knowledge on regional standard of care therapies for a particular neurologic disease she is well placed to provide guidance on choosing the optimal sites for specific therapeutic indications. Her insights and knowledge prove to be of great value to sponsors, adding efficiencies in site identification and study start-up, as well as leveraging her long relationships with investigators in the field.

Dr. Tanjga has been a member of the IQVIA family for 13 years. Prior to joining IQVIA Biotech, she served as a Global Medical Advisor for IQVIA for 11 years where she provided medical oversight for numerous multiple sclerosis studies as well as myriad other neurologic disorders. To date, Dr. Tanjga has served as a medical and scientific advisor for more than 40 neurology clinical trials across the globe. She is also contributing author to more than 10 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. As a testament to her continued commitment to excellence in research, in 2020 she was a co-author of an article in the Journal for Clinical Studies on the clinical trial landscape of limb girdle muscular dystrophy.

Dr. Tanjga instills her own sense of purpose, motivation, and commitment to research into every opportunity to which she contributes, providing her insights and experience to developing strategies for and oversight of neurology studies. Dr. Tanjga is gratified that her role as Senior Medical Director at IQVIA Biotech allows her to actualize her goal of improving the quality of life of patients with neurologic diseases through advances in clinical research.
